With many people being homebound, many of us are passing time by taking care of those things we’ve always wanted to do but never found the time. Any trip to a local hardware or paint store will show that many of us are taking care of new paint jobs. There are few things better than a fresh coat of paint, and in that spirit, we’d love to share with you our top 5 tips for painting the inside of your home!
Wait for nice weather. A humid or rainy atmosphere can cause your paint to dry slowly, which can also cause drips. Both of which you want to avoid.
Make sure to prep! Get to the store early to get everything you need so you don’t have to stop once you start. Check the walls for holes and cracks. Remove any nails or screws that were holding up pictures and decorations. Don’t forget to take down any light switch or power outlet covers. Give the walls a wash, and then you’ll be ready to go!
Don’t skimp on materials. Make sure to buy high-quality rollers, brushes, and paint. The better quality your brushes and rollers, the better the paint covers, which means you’ll need less of it. And don’t forget to get the good painters tape.
Drop cloths will save you headaches. Drop cloths, covers, and sandwich bags are all things that cover what you don’t want painted so that your home looks exactly the way you want it to.

Paint from top to bottom. After you’ve done all your cutting in and trim work at the ceiling and floors, roll the paint from top to bottom. As you paint, drips will happen, and by going top to bottom you paint right over the problems.
