Winter coming means that right now is the best time to prepare. Winterizing your home may seem like it’s a lot of work, but it’s all work that is worthwhile. There are things that we’re all used to doing now, like cleaning out gutters and cleaning up the yard. This year, add preparing your windows for winter to the list.
Inspect your windows. Take a look around the outside of your window at the weather stripping. This seals your windows to make sure that all winter long the heat stays in and the cold stays out. If you notice any missing, replace it immediately.
Check your windows for ease of use, meaning lock and unlock them, and check the cranks, and handles. Your windows should be easy to use. If not, it may be time to have a professional take a look at them.
Take a look at the glass itself. Any cracks or breaks in the glass means that it’s not airtight anymore. These issues are not merely cosmetic and need to be addressed immediately.
